The STONE LAW GROUP was formed in 2010 after the retirement of Phillip C. Stone, Sr. from the presidency of Bridgewater College. He and three of his children, also lawyers, decided to form a small, family firm committed to applying "old-fashioned" values to their professional work. Clients would be viewed as friends; work would be done expertly and at a reasonable cost; professional and personal ethics of the highest level would be applied; and the firm members would participate actively in community affairs. Phil Sr., having practiced in the area's largest firm for 24 years before becoming president of Bridgewater College, and Phil Jr., having practiced both in a large Harrisonburg firm and as a sole practitioner for 19 years, were joined by Elizabeth, who, after being licensed in 2000, taught high school mathematics for 7 years before joining the group.
The firm was initially also joined by another son, Robert, who now maintains a separate criminal defense practice in Harrisonburg.
The STONE LAW GROUP focuses its practice on business transactions, corporations, estate planning and administration, real estate, non-profit organizations, tax planning and representation before the IRS.
